Auburn-Alabama Named Top Rivalry By ESPN

ESPN 2 is running a series called Honor Roll where it ranks various things in college football including, best rivalries, best all-time coaches, best all-time players, etc. Tonight it ran its best rivalry show and Auburn-Alabama was rated the top rivalry in college football. It placed ahead of Ohio State-Michigan, Army-Navy, Harvard-Yale, etc. The show will be running several more times this month so make sure you Tivo it...

Auburn athletics director Jay Jacobs talked about the plans for a new scoreboard at Pat Dye Field in this month's Inside The Auburn Tigers magazine. There had been speculation that Auburn would be getting a much larger video screen and scoreboard for the 2007 season. Apparently, that's not going to happen. Jacobs says they will be adding a new state-of-the-art scoreboard for next season, but it will not be much bigger than the existing one...

Making the video screen larger would require that Auburn rebuild its entire scoreboard, which would add six to seven million dollars to the price tag. Auburn is already in the early stages of building a new $100+ million basketball facility along with refurbishing the athletic complex. Nonetheless, the new video screen will be nice. Jacobs says it will have the latest technology including a high definition picture...

Auburn's 74-66 loss to second-ranked Pittsburgh on Sunday shows just how far the men's basketball program has come. Sure it was a loss, but boy what a difference a year makes. Last year, the Tigers lost on the road to the Panthers by 37. Jeff Lebo's group still lacks size, but makes up for it with speed. If you haven't gone to a game in a while, I highly recommend it. This group should be much better in conference play than in years past...
